The servers were great and kept attending to us to make sure that everything is fine. Will definitely come back here soon. The crispy pata ( deep fried pork leg) seem to be the best around. Needs a lot of patience if you want to eat a delicious Crispy Pata. Just make sure you have no other appointment for the day because of the slow or maybe short-handed staff kind of service. Recently, Zack Lemann, the Insectarium’s curator of animal collections, has been working up cicada dishes that may become part of the menu. He donned a chef’s smock this week to show a couple of them off, including a green salad with apple, almonds, blueberry vinaigrette — and roasted cicadas. Fried cicada nymphs were dressed on top with a warm mixture of creole mustard and soy sauce. “Cinnamon Bug Crunch,” chili-fried waxworms, and crispy, cajun-spiced crickets are among the menu items. The location is a bit hard to find, there are no signs at all. But it's located in the correct location that Google maps says. Crispy Pata was so crispy on the outside, but yet tender meat inside! The Sisig dish was also tasted great...crunchy & not greasy. Ampalaya (bitter mellon) with Eggs tasted delicious & no bitter taste at all.
Before I get to speak they say, "Please wait." Then you realize they're not coming back to the phone and can't even call back, because the phone is now off the hook. Lemann has been working to make sure the Bug Appetit cafe has legal clearance to serve wild-caught cicadas while he works on lining up sources for the bugs. Extra crunchy skin and soft pork center you cant beat.

Suggest you phone in To Go orders for pick up on time. If ALL you care about is food..this is as good as it gets. Who goes to an Asian restaurant for customer service anyways? Best Sisig, Crispy Pata and Beef Steak Tagalog around. I regularly come by purchasing some food in this place. I like the quick service and well made dishes.

We waited half-an hour for the food & they were not that busy. Don't go there on your 1/2 hour lunch break. Depending on the type and the way they are prepared, cooked cicadas taste similar to toasted seeds or nuts.

Our favorites, crispy pata ( just keep getting smaller every time we come), pancit miki/bihon and special chop suey. Tried their pinakbet (for the first time) I think the chef forgot the bagoong! Same old favorite Crispy Para and Kare Kare. Cannot go wrong with classic favorites. Many orders "To Go" for family and office parties.
I always pair this with their white rice, and beef sinagang (sorry if I misspelled it) sour soup. The best Filipino restaurant I have found in the US. Also good is the pinak bet, lumpia Shanghai, pancit etc. But like every thing else Filipino don't come here for good organization, fast service or clean bathrooms. Went here tonight and I must admit that they have the best crispy pata ever.

They prepare high class dishes, they have a nice menu, The cook in that place is very trained, I like a lot trying all their food. The food is consistently fresh, the service towards the guests is friendly. I often eat in this restaurant and I not even once was unhappy. That crispy pata was ridiculously good. The crunch and seasoning was reminiscent of kfc's best fried chicken coating while the meat was very tender and had a clean porky taste.
The crispy pata was extra crispy and flavorful. Big enough to share with another person. Not a fan of the sauces that came with it though. They emerge when the ground warms to 64 degrees (17.8 degrees Celsius), which is happening earlier than it used to because of climate change, entomologists said. The bugs are brown at first but darken as they mature.
The crispy pata is comparable to a popular place back home. They serve Filipino dish as it is and no expectations or alteration from the original and it's kinda short on servings for a price. They cook the viand that you order it seems. The place needs un upgrade or at least add more room. It's kinda popular on weekends and holodays, specially for to go orders. You do have to wait in line if you plan to be there on busy hours, at least an hour.
